You've Got to Move it, Move it!

I thought I'd do a little Monday Madness and tell you about something that has been extremely helpful to me since the end of July. That would be exercise. Yep, sweaty, heavy breathing, achy muscles, heart pounding exercise.

Since the end of July, I've been able to jog again since foot surgery (a long time ago). It's not easy and sometimes it's painful, but each day that I jog the 3.1-4 miles on the treadmill, I actually feel as if I am accomplishing something, which I am. I'm a task oriented kind of person, so when I finish something, I am happy. Which is probably why housework and I don't get along...as soon as the laundry is caught up, there's more. As soon as the dishes are done, there's more. As soon as one meal is cooked and cleaned, there's another. But if I run 3.1, hey, I'M DONE!

I've been an emotional eater for most of my adult life, so jogging is helping me change that voice track in my head from "eat, eat, eat" to relieve stress to "run, run, run" for stress relief. I've exercised for most of my adult life as well, so I know about the benefits, although sometimes I just don't want to do it. Like dishes, laundry, and sweeping. But when I exercise, my brain relaxes and later, I feel more creative and get more accomplished creatively.

So creative types, get out there! Do something that gets your blood flowing! Dance, walk, waltz, jump on the trampoline, hit the gym, lift something. Whatever it takes to relax that brain!
